Pre-conference

I made it to DCA via ORD and both flights were uneventful, just as I prefer them. Once I checked into the Windsor Park Hotel (two blocks up from the Hyatt) I quickly met up with Karen for a short afternoon of book shopping. (No WiFi in the Windsor unfortunately. At least not on the 4th floor. I also got a brief chance to catch up with Steven Cohen, Aaron Schmidt, and Andrea Mercado with a brief "hi" to Jane Dysart. Karen is reporting limited connectivity on the 3rd floor.) I've just got back from a wonderful dinner with Karen and her partner-in-crime and self proclaimed "bad haiku-ist" Amanda. That's pretty much it for the day. The conference starts tomorrow so reports will be more forthcoming then.

Library Web Chic @ CIL

Well I've safely arrive at Computers in Libraries 2005. The drive down wasn't too bad but as usual parking was horrific. If you come to this conference and drive to Washington may I strongly suggest that you arrive in the middle of the day when you can find a parking spot. After 5 PM parking is a nightmare.

I am attending the conference this year with a friend and colleague of mine (Amanda). This is the first time I've attended with another person, which is exciting because: I get to show her around, two can cover more sessions than one, and I automatically have someone to got to to dinner with. We found a good hotel within 5 minutes walking distance of the conference and it has the added benefit of having nearby wifi signal. I think that this is going to be a great conference. I can wait to hear the keynote tomorrow by Clifford Lynch and the post conference workshop on OAI by Roy Tennant. As always I am sure that there will be lot of other awesome sessions. Lastly, I'm hoping that my session "Practical Privacy Pointers for Libraries" on Thursday goes well. So if you see me at the conference and want to say "hi" please feel free.
